By 2010 Dr Michael De Luca has been a clinical psychologist for twenty years, working in one of Britain’s high-secure hospitals. He is confident in his skills and the infallible tools of communication his field provides.
He’s never had to question these beliefs until Stefan, a charismatic, deeply scarred charity director, crosses his path at a professional conference, and in pursuing him Michael is forced to adapt to new practices.
When the very language of psychiatry causes destruction, and the crisp rules of enthusiastic consent become murky ground, the clarity Michael once trusted psychology to provide becomes an obstacle to the intimacy they both crave.
