Lord William Errington understands himself very well: he is a Gentleman, first and foremost, and his duty to his family is one he tries to fulfil to the best of his abilities.
He will not marry, as he knows himself to be not so inclined, and would not inflict such a deficiency upon an unsuspecting bride. His conversation is not as lively as he would like it to be and his quiet nature means that he does not make as many friends as he might wish.
